We are delighted to announce that Moniack Mhor will once again be sponsoring the Tarbert Book Festival Writing Competition in 2017.
We were all delighted with the quality of the entries last year but we’ve made it even easier to enter this time. If you were put off by the idea of having to write to a theme, (we thought it might inspire you!) we’ve removed that obstacle. This year’s competition is for a short story/researched article/reminiscence piece of up to 500 words maximum on any subject of your choice.
We’re looking forward to hearing how Frances Ainslie gets on when she goes to Moniack Mhor in July, so we’ve extended the closing date for entries. The deadline will be midnight on 23rd July 2017. Shortlisted candidates will be notified by 31st August and the winner will be announced at the Prize Giving Ceremony at the Tarbert Book Festival during the weekend of 27th – 29th October 2017.
First prize is a week’s (Monday to Saturday) course at Moniack Mhor, to be taken during 2017/2018. The winner will receive a copy of the brochure before the programme is announced at the end of November and will be able to choose from around five options covering a good range of genres and different tutors.
All shortlisted entrants will receive an in depth critique of their work plus a weekend gold pass to the Festival.
The judge is author, editor and creative writing lecturer Dr. Anne Hamilton who will also be appearing at the Festival to deliver a creative writing workshop.
Entry fee £5. To enter, first of all, make your payment via the Ticketsource website. (Note: this ticket only covers your entry to the online writing competition.) Then send your entry, quoting only your unique title and Ticketsource reference number, to firstname.lastname@example.org
